About
Himanshu Mestry is a Mumbai, India-based visual storyteller working across photography, film, and audiovisual media. With a degree in Applied Arts (Visual Communication) from Asmita Art Academy, he began his practice at the intersection of design, art direction, photography, and film, developing a visual language rooted in thoughtful composition, strong concepts, and human emotion.
His practice spans advertising, editorial, documentary, and personal projects, bringing together still and moving images through a design-led approach to storytelling. Driven by a deep appreciation for observation and the poetry of everyday life, Himanshu creates honest and immersive visual narratives that celebrate people, places, and moments with authenticity.
His work has been recognised with three consecutive National Photography Awards. In 2023, he presented a solo photography exhibition in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, where several of his photographs were acquired by international collectors. In 2026, his street photography was recognised as an Editor’s Pick in the LensCulture Street Photography Awards, with the selected work set to be exhibited in London in November 2026.
Today, Himanshu continues to explore the evolving relationship between still photography, moving image, and audiovisual film, with a strong foundation in art direction and design. Alongside his commercial practice, he continues to develop personal projects and work towards upcoming books, further expanding his visual language and creative practice.
